Pilgrim Hat Cookies for Dummies

by Monica on November 19, 2010

For my next lazy mommy trick, I shall turn this…

ingredients thanksgiving cookies

into these…

pilgrim hat thanksgiving cookies

Place the cookies with the striped-side down. Dip a marshmallow in melted chocolate (16oz of chocolate chips and 2tbs of shortening will work if you don’t have those little fancy chocolate candy melts). Stand them up on the cookies. Use yellow (or orange if that’s what you have…like I did) decorator icing to pipe on a buckle.

That’s it. Seriously…it doesn’t get much easier. No baking. No stress. Now that’s something to be grateful for!

{Just please be sure the kids eating these cute things know not to cram the whole marshmallow into their mouths. They should be bitten into and chewed well. Large marshmallows are just the right size to easily get lodged in a young child’s throat, and their mushy consistency makes them mold to the shape of the airway…making it very difficult to get them out.}

Giving Thanks

by Monica on November 25, 2009

It’s so easy to get swept up. Swept up in the stress, the mundane, the negative.  Swept up in the tasks, the chores, the games.

But at the end of the day, in the dark stillness that tidies up my head and reassures my heart, I reflect on my greatest treasures.
