Making Memories

Snap Pea snuggled up next to me tonight and told me we were making some really happy memories. Oh, how right he was.

We had a wonderful morning at church, worshiping as we wanted…surrounded by people we love. We went out for lunch with Grandma and took a lazy afternoon nap.

We spent the evening enjoying good food, sweet music and nice weather with family. We sat on the back porch and watched as the squad giggled in the sprinklers. We ate our weight in burgers, dogs and ice cream. We returned to the comfort of the porch when darkness fell to enjoy the squeals of delight as the kidlets chased fireflies…catching them in cups and setting them free.

Tomorrow we’ll take a ride to visit Meema and spend some time with cousins. I’m sure it will be another day full of laughter and love.

And all the while, we acknowledge that this holiday weekend and many more like it are only possible because of the brave men and women who fought for our freedoms.

Memories indeed. May we never forget. May we never fail to teach the next generation.

Memorial Day 2010

From the bottom of my heart, I thank you for defending the freedom that allowed my family to create beautiful memories today without fear of attack or repression.
