Something About Clean Toes and Crazy Mommies

by Monica on November 30, 2009

Awww...how sweet! You're back again! Hope you enjoy your visit with the Peapod Squad!

I feel like my head is spinning 360’s a la “The Exorcist” sometimes. My daughter can flip from “I ever don’t love you anymore. You the meanest mommy ever!” to “Mommy, I’m gonna’ miss you when you go to teach. I really really love you way up the sky and the walls too” ON A DIME. I can’t keep up.

Tonight at 7:16pm, she hated me. She was convinced I was lying to her about there not being children and desks in the schoolhouse that goes with my holiday village. She insisted she needed to look in the tiny windows to see the children and was furious that I told her there were no children to see. She didn’t believe me, I never let her see anything, I was a horrible mommy, etc.

Stomp. Stomp. Slam.

At 7:38pm, she never wanted to go to school or anywhere else without me because she loved me too much to leave. She spent 17 minutes alternating between full-on crying and whimpering “I’m gonna’ miss you so much when I’m at school. I love you so so so so so much, Mommy.”

By 7:55pm, she was snoring.

I have no idea what to expect when she opens those beautiful brown eyes tomorrow, but I suspect it will be some kind of argument with me about what she’s wearing to school.

She’s 4. I can’t even imagine what our relationship will be like in 10 years. Oh. I’m going to need some stronger medication. My mom told me payback was coming…and I just hate when my mom is right.

On a strictly positive note, though, I suppose it’s all worth it when I get to giggle at the very goofy way she needs to clean between her toes so thoroughly. Kinda’ makes me want to scream about how “I love her way up the sky and the walls too.”
