The Path Before Me

the journey

I once found much of my identity in my job. My confidence flourished in my wardrobe of power suits and pumps. Frequent flyer miles and expense accounts were my friends.

And then we heard those words: “I see three heartbeats! You’re having triplets!”

Spit-up and crusty things became my new accessories. Power suits were traded for stretchy pants and long tee shirts. The luxury Infiniti was sold. A hand-me-down Nissan was gratefully inherited. Life was so different. But I grew to LOVE our new normal.

And though we struggled financially with our choice for me to be home with the kids, I wouldn’t have done it any other way.  We learned we could do without a lot of the extras and even some of what we once thought essential.

I actually thought I’d dread going back to work full-time, but doors have opened in wonderful ways and I’ll be able to still be a huge part of the peapod squad’s days. I’m never going back to power suits. I’m taking a very different path this time. I’m going to be teaching at their school…in the same county where hubby teaches. We’ll have the same schedules. Summers together. Holidays without conflicts. It’s perfect for us.

I am so thankful. Not just for this new job and the opportunities it will afford us. I am thankful for the whole journey. For that frighteningly huge decrease in our family income that ran smack into a sudden increase in the size of our family. For the most beautiful lesson in priorities it taught us.

I’m nervous but so very excited. The path before me is looking pretty amazing from where I stand.

You are going to rock this job Monica. I truely believe God opens doors when the time is right. The Pea Pod Squad have now gotten through Kindergarten and are adjusted to school and the door opened for you.
Good Luck you will do great!
