CD Review: Sarah McLachlan’s “Laws of Illusion”

by Monica on July 2, 2010

I am a LONG-TIME fan of Grammy® award winning, multi-platinum singer/songwriter Sarah McLachlan. She is supremely talented as a songwriter and as a performer and I’ve completely adored every one of her albums. I was beyond thrilled to receive her brand new project, Laws of Illusion, from One2One to review (the CD was given to me…but the opinions here are, as always, all my own). It’s her first studio album release of all new material in 7 years! And it delivers that amazingly intimate, musical experience Sarah fans know and love. Download the single “Loving You Is Easy” on ITunes and see why I fell in love with this CD.

For the 7 years that Sarah has been pretty silent publicly, her private life has been a journey through motherhood (2 daughters, ages 7 and 3) and more recently…divorce and recovery. The joy and the agony of that path are heard on this album. It’s the music of life…of a mom finding her way. Songs by a real woman FOR real women.
