Awww...how sweet! You're back again! Hope you enjoy your visit with the Peapod Squad!
I wonder if I will always cry on the eve of your birthday?
There are just so many overwhelming emotions still really close to the surface, I suppose. It was the most terrifying experience of my life and it led to the purest of joys. That jarring juxtaposition continues to yank my heart to and fro.
I feel like each birthday pulls you all a tiny bit further from my womb. A tiny bit further away from my protection. And that terrifies me.
But oh, the pure joy of seeing you learn new things…to watch you blossom into these capable and compassionate little beings.
I love how inquisitive you are. I love how you process things. I love how you are just so naturally sensitive to the feelings of those around you. And as much as it pains me to feel you growing away from our little safety net, it excites me to see the persons of character you are becoming. I am so honored to be your mom.
Five. Years. Old. As you keep reminding me…you’re “big kids” now. But if it’s OK with you, I’m still gonna’ call you my babies. Because even though you look like this doing cool stuff now:
This is what you looked like when I first fell head-over-heels in love with you. And this precious image is forever etched into my heart.

Happy birthday, trio! Hope everyone is feeling better and that the cupcakes are fantastic!
I know how you feel. My “baby boy” just turned 35 and my little girl is,,,well, let’s skip that note. You will always be my baby. I thank you, and Ami, for the other babies though. They are precious.
Happy birthday to the trio!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE TRIO! MAY GOD ALWAYS BLESS YOU.
Happy Birthday to your 3 sweet loves!!
Happy birthday to your beautiful children!
I am totally with you on the strange mix of joy and fear… I wonder how I will survive watching my kids grow into adults and at the some time marvel at how much joy it brings me.
I hope you all had a fabulous day of celebration!
Happy Birthday!
Congratulations! Amazing how those tiny little sweet-smelling, squirming lumps can make such a change in your life! My triplet boys are now 11 and in 6th grade. Middle Schoolers. Band, sports, dances, girls – it’s amazing. Believe me, as they grow older, there will be far fewer moments of the “aw, aren’t they cute”, kind, but many more of the “wow, they are truly amazing guys”, kind – so proud that I “made them from scratch”. Don’t let anyone pull the wool over your eyes, though, it gets more complicated. Sure, things get easier as they become more independent, but I was happy when they were all toddling around in diapers. This whole pre-teen thing is just not the same! I envy you and your still almost toddlers. Cherish these times. Happy birthday to your trio, from one mom of trips to another. Bless you. (BTW, new to your blog – found you on Blissfully Domestic).
