Grandma and Grandpa are still visiting us from NY. We went for a drive this afternoon and Grandpa was sitting in the back of the minivan with the kids. He struck up a conversation with Sweet Pea.
Grandpa: Hey Sweet Pea, do you love me?
Sweet: No. Just Pop (my dad).
Grandpa: You don’t love me?
Sweet: No. Sweet just love my Pop.
Grandpa: Oh…that makes me sad. It hurts my feelings.
Sweet: Nooooo. (she grins knowingly)
Hours later, we’ve gotten the kids in bed and Grandma and Grandpa come in to kiss them goodnight.
Sweet: (kisses Grandpa on the cheek) I love Grandpa.
Grandpa: You love me? Now you love me?
Sweet: Yesh.
pause
Sweet: You feel better now?
